An Interview with Frank Desiderio Jr.
Frank Desiderio, 62, was recently appointed Mayor of Frelinghuysen
Township. He sat down for a brief interview before touring the grounds of
the newly-restored Frelinghuysen Recreation Center, which is located on
the Frelinghuysen Forest Preserve North property on Lincoln Laurel Road.

Without question it was the day that we opened up the ball fields behind
town hall. Every day I get to see a multitude of people using it, people
of all ages from small children to senior citizens. (Desiderio was heavily

volunteering long hours and supplying equipment for the project at no cost
to the taxpayers).
What is your primary goal as Mayor?

funds into projects which will benefit the majority of taxpayers, like the
ball fields and the new recreation center.

The Frelinghuysen Recreation Center is available for events, like school
field trips, classes and private parties. Several groups already use it
for exercise classes. There are locker rooms with showers in the building.
The center will have a fully-equipped kitchen when the renovation is
completed. We are grateful to the Girl Scouts who did an amazing job
blazing hiking trails around the property. The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts
are planning to help refurbish the picnic tables on the deck, and they are
interested in developing a camp site on the property. The next step is to
improve the parking lot. Eventually, we would also like to utilize the
pond to host a fishing event.
